          • In 1962 a young boy is rescued from the Ohio River having nearly drowned. During the incident he has a near-death experience and comes out of the water changed. That change put him at odds with his Christian family and friends, so he kept details of the event hidden for over 60 years. Now, at the end of life, he reveals what he experienced that day and the way the episode impacted his world view.
          • The conclusions he reaches will be shocking to some, highly offensive to others and will likely produce a yawn from many. The book is simplistic, short, mostly unoriginal and blends a sort of biographical journal of philosophy and belief to tell the story. The book is about how a brief brush with death derailed the thinking of a normal 10-year-old boy. He emerged from the water with a certainty that conflicted with conventional wisdom and caused him to question the fundamental tenets of his beliefs.
          • In this book, the author tries to make a connection with someone who is struggling, as he did, to understand the universe and the accompanying whys. Feeling different and alone and out of step with society, this person resists conforming to social norms and established thinking. The author shares his views on what happens when we die and why it matters how we live our lives. This is an honest account of one man’s perspective on life, death and why what happens in between means so much.
